WIPC RULES
The competition is open to pianists of all nationalities, aged 18 to 35, studying or residing in the British Isles on 13th February 2027 and born on or after 13th February 1992. All competitors must submit with their entry a copy of their birth certificate or passport as evidence of date of birth.
- A maximum of 5 competitors will be selected for the Competition Final.
- Competitors must be free from any commitments for the final on Saturday 13th February 2027 at St Mary’s Church, Weymouth, Dorset.
- The competition final will be open to the public.
- Finalists are expected to dress as if for an afternoon recital.
- The Competition organisers reserve the right to refuse the entry of any competitor without giving a reason.
- Competitors are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements for all stages of the competition.
Competitors’ applications should be supported by:
A recent video recording* of professional standard, 20 to 25 minutes, containing your performances of three contrasting works or movements. Concerto movements will not be accepted. Video may be submitted as a YouTube or Vimeo private link. (NB do not upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo as a public link.)
* Each piece in your audio must be recorded in one unedited take.
IMPORTANT DATES
Closing date for application forms, payment and video audition is 30th November 2026
The applicants who are selected to play in the final will be required to supply details of the pieces they will play fourteen daysafter being notified they have been selected to play in the final. Once the pieces for the final have been notified, no changes will be allowed.
Selections will be made by the guest adjudicator and artistic director of Chamber Music Weymouth. The judges’ decision is final.
Competitors must supply two copies of all music performed in the edition used.
It is left to the competitors’ discretion:
- whether to play from memory or not
- whether or not repeats are played.
The Final performance should be no more than 35 minutes long. The jury may stop competitors who exceed the time limit.
All prizes are awarded at the discretion of the jury.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The entry fee is £30.00 (non-refundable under any circumstances other than cancellation of the competition) for all entries. Payments can be made by cheque (made payable to Weymouth Lunchtime Chamber Concerts) or by bank transfer online or via BACS – please contact us for bank details.
