ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Weymouth International Piano Competition (WIPC) is a new piano competition open to pianists of all nationalities who are resident or studying in the British Isles, aged 18 to 35. The competition is hosted by Chamber Music Weymouth.
Competitors must be aged between 18 and 35 for the duration of the competition
The aim of the competition is to support and encourage young or emerging talent, offering valuable performance experience and critique. Prizewinners will have the opportunity to perform in the Chamber Music Weymouth lunchtime concert series in addition to cash prizes. The first prize winner will also be offered a concert engagement in London.
There is no set piece, and participants are encouraged to submit a programme which demonstrates who they are as a musician. Participants have a free choice of repertoire, but their programme should demonstrate a variety of styles, tempi, moods, etc. and feature at least two different composers.
